Who is the Legacy Project for?
The Legacy Project is for anyone who wants to honor and document a life — the wisdom, memories, and turning points that have shaped who someone is. It offers a way to beautifully preserve the stories, presence, meaning, and truth of a life fully lived.
This experience can be created for yourself or for someone you love: a parent, grandparent, relative, or dear friend. It is for individuals and families who want to capture a life while it can still be shared, and to create something that will be cherished for generations.
How long does the experience take from start to finish?
Once you book your session, we’ll schedule your interview and photo session(s) together. After your session, Legacy Books are typically delivered in 4–6 weeks.

Where does the session take place?
The Legacy Project is based in Asheville, NC.
For Legacy and Tribute sessions, we come to you — your home, your loved one’s home, or a place that feels comfortable and meaningful — within a 30-mile radius of Asheville.
And, we love to travel! For those outside the Asheville area, see our Journey offering.
Do we need to prepare anything before the interview?
Your loved one doesn’t need notes, stories, or ideas ahead of time. Daphne will gently guide the conversation and help them remember, reflect, and speak from the heart. All they need to do is show up as they are.
Is the Legacy Project only for people at the end of life?
The Legacy Project is for anyone, of any age, who feels called to reflect and preserve their story, at any stage of life.
Our Tribute offering is specifically designed for those near the end of life, and is gifted free of charge to hospice clients.
What if my loved ones don't think they have much to say?
We believe that everyone has a meaningful story. Often, the most powerful insights come from ordinary moments and lived experience.
Rest assured that our process is designed to help you discover the wisdom your loved ones already carry, even if they don’t realize it yet.
What if my loved ones don't usually like photos of themselves?
We hear this often. Rest assured that Erica has decades of experience of photographing with connection, natural expression and ease — never posing, never forcing.
Most clients tell us these are the first photos in which they recognize themselves: relaxed, real, and radiant.
Can I order additional copies of my Legacy Book?
Yes — additional Legacy Books are available as add-on options.
Legacy Books are available in three sizes and you are welcome to order additional copies for family and friends.

Can additional family members be included in the session or in the book?
Yes — this is available as a storytelling enhancement option.
If you’d like to include additional family members, we can gather short reflections, quotes, or memories to weave into your Legacy Book.
We can also include additional loved ones in a brief portrait session. We’ll expertly guide you in making the experience feel natural and easeful for everyone.

Can we include family photos or historic documents in my Legacy Book?
Yes — this option can be added to your experience.
If you’d like to include meaningful photographs or documents from your loved one’s life, or quotes from additional family members or friends, we can integrate them thoughtfully into your Legacy Book as an add-on.
We’ll guide you through choosing what to include, and we’ll handle the scanning and layout with care.

Can I purchase additional digital images beyond what's in the book?
Yes — full digital galleries are available as an add-on option.
If you’d like access to the complete set of curated, hand-edited photographs from your session, you may purchase the full downloadable gallery of images. Other add-on options are also available.
