A guided storytelling and portrait experience: meaningful conversations, beautiful photography, and a one-of-a-kind book your family will treasure for generations.
While some companies send weekly email prompts or mail a questionnaire, we do things differently.
Daphne conducts a series of deep, guided interviews. She asks the questions most people have never been asked. She listens for what lives underneath: the stories but also the wisdom, the hard-won knowing, the essence of who your loved one truly is. So you can carry them with you, always.
And Erica brings her photographer's and designer's eye to every single book. For local sessions, she photographs your loved one throughout the conversation: candid, present, radiant. For remote sessions, you send the photos you already love, and Erica edits, restores, and custom designs the entire book with the same devotion she brings to all her work.
Either way, the book is entirely tailor-made — and entirely yours.

Daphne interviews with decades of practiced listening in person or by phone. Erica brings her photographer's eye to every image, whether she captured them or is curating your family's own photos. The result is always unmistakably personal.
Whether Erica photographed your loved one or is working with photos you've sent, she brings her photographer's eye and designer's hand to every single page. Each book is a one-of-a-kind, archival heirloom.
A portion of every Legacy Session supports The Tribute — our offering to those in their final chapter, at no cost. Because everyone deserves to be witnessed.
Two paths. One purpose. The same depth of care, wherever you are in the world.
Daphne and Erica come to your loved one's home. Daphne interviews while Erica photographs. Then Erica hand-edits every image and designs the entire book, weaving your loved one's portraits and words into a one-of-a-kind heirloom.
Daphne interviews by phone with the same unhurried depth. You send Erica the family photographs you already treasure and she edits, restores, and curates them with a photographer's eye. She then designs the photos alongside the interview into a book with the same beauty and intention as every book she makes.
Before anything else, Daphne calls your loved one for a warm 30-minute conversation. A chance to get to know one another, build trust and connection and start the beautiful journey into your loved one's life.
Legacy clients: Daphne guides a 2-hour conversation in your loved one's home while Erica photographs your loved one and the items that matter most to them.
Remote clients: Daphne interviews by phone with the same unhurried depth. You send Erica your family photos to be curated and transformed.
Erica hand-selects and edits every image. Daphne curates the words that most truly capture who your loved one is. Together, they create a one-of-a-kind heirloom book. Something your family will return to for generations. Delivered in 4–6 weeks.
Every session results in an heirloom Legacy Book crafted to be treasured for generations.
For those in hospice care who wish to be gently witnessed and lovingly remembered. A simplified, deeply compassionate version of the Legacy Session offered completely free of charge to those in their final chapter. A portion of every Legacy Session fee makes this possible.
The book is amazing. The care that went into everything from the pre-interview communications, to the connection mom felt with both of you during the interview is so evident in this beautiful book. Such a gift.
I'd never been interviewed or professionally photographed before. Daphne and Erica were so skilled, I could not believe I came across so well. And the book — it's just beautiful. I'm extremely pleased.
My time with Daphne and Erica was so much more than I expected. Daphne has this ability to pull out memories I didn't even think about until she asked a follow-up question. And Erica just has this way of making you feel like you're playing. What a great experience.
Each book is custom-created by Erica and Daphne. Every image chosen, every page laid out by hand, every word placed with intention. It arrives as a hardcover coffee table book your family will set out, pick up, and return to for the rest of their lives.

The Legacy Project began long before it had a name in two parallel paths quietly moving toward each other. Erica has spent two decades creating luminous portraits that celebrate people in the truth of who they are. Her time as a volunteer with the Center for Conscious Living and Dying in Asheville opened something even deeper in her work.
Daphne has spent decades in profound conversation, interviewing teachers, visionaries, and everyday people with extraordinary depth. When her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, the urgency of preserving stories became visceral and personal.
They first met in 2018. From that meeting grew a friendship and from that friendship, an offering to families and future generations: Your story matters. And now is the time to tell it.
A portion of every Legacy Session supports The Tribute — our hospice offering, given freely to those nearing the end of life.
