Cassie Mendoza-Jones, You Are Enough

Welcome to 2017!

This month on Your Legacy Project I will be sharing the incredible work behind some of Australia’s leading Mind, Body and Spirit Guru’s. Every January I like to try to ease into the start of the new year and set the groundwork for the year ahead. So throughout this month I will be sharing the work of some of Australia’s rising Health and Wellness Coaches and the legacies they are creating through their life and work. This week I sat down with the gorgeous Cassie Mendoza-Jones to discover more about her work and her Legacy Project the incredible book – You Are Enough.

You Are Enough is a beautiful book that helps women end the tirade with their inner critic and come to a place of peace and self love. In my friend Megan Dalla-Camina’s words, “It is a grand journey, but through Cassie’s beautiful words and wisdom, she makes it seem possible for women to find their confidence, get the most from their energy, and finally realise their self worth. This book will help change many lives…”

Q&A

What inspired you to write You Are Enough? What is the story behind the book?

I went through an extended period in my life where I was constantly comparing myself to others, and I saw how it was starting to affect every area of my life: my interactions with others, my self-care and self-talk, my energy and more. Once I could see this and do the inner work to clear the comparison, I knew I wanted to write about it.

I won the 2014 Hay House Writer’s Competition, giving me an incredible opportunity to spread my message, and that’s really how the book came to be.

Throughout my book, I go through how to start increasing your self-confidence and self-worth, and take you through ways you can clear and balance your energy, release negative thoughts, align yourself to the very best version of yourself and get out of the comparison trap so that you truly believe you are enough.

What were you doing before establishing Elevate Vitality? Was there an event or circumstance that served as a catalyst for the work you do?

For years I was a makeup artist in the fashion and beauty industry. There wasn’t a huge catalyst for my change, rather many small moments and most importantly, a desire to do some deeper work in the world and the commitment to change track when I thought I’d already found my career as a makeup artist. I’m so glad I followed the call!

How does Elevate Vitality bring your unique talents to life? In what way does it give you personal fulfilment or a sense of purpose?

I am really able to express myself in so many ways, and with so much creative freedom. I love crafting my business and life in a way that feels really good to me, and in a way that helps to serve my clients and readers even more.

I think my love for writing and desire to be creative and constantly evolving—while honouring my natural energy and cycles too—has also been incredibly beneficial throughout my business journey and is one thing I always come back to.

What drives you to do the work that you do and keep going?

I really love my work, my business, writing, creating and connecting with so many people whether they’re clients, other writers, kinesiologists, naturopaths, healers, coaches, creatives and/or entrepreneurs. I love facilitating positive change, where and when I can, in others’ lives. I can’t imagine doing anything else, and so it’s the love and respect for my work that keeps me going.

I know it’s just out but is there a highlight since publishing ‘You Are Enough’? And what’s your biggest career highlight to date?

Every part of my publishing journey with YOU ARE ENOUGH has been a highlight! Before I started this publishing journey, I set a very clear intention that I truly wanted to have no expectations so that I could just meet myself where I was at, and it’s been such a blessing. I have loved the entire process, and the whole thing—from landing my book deal, to writing it, editing it and launching it—has definitely been a highlight of my career and business (and life!) to date.

How does your work serve a higher purpose on planet earth? And how does that make you feel?

It’s my hope that my work helps people connect to themselves, clear overwhelm, balance their energy, create purpose and intention behind their thoughts, intentions and actions, and know deeply that they are enough.

What great lesson or lessons have you learnt so far in life?

That it’s okay to release your expectations, to take a day off, to simplify, to have fun, to rest, to love and laugh, and to eat the chocolate.

If you could give one piece of advice what would it be and why?

I’ll use one of my favourite quotes here instead, to show that each day is different and we must just meet ourselves where we’re at: “This is a wonderful day. I have never seen this one before.” – Maya Angelou
